(!) Duvenbeck signed a letter of intent (LOI) to purchase 120 of the new Volkswagen Group MAN electric semi trucks back in 2023, and now the first examples of the 40-ton e-trucks have arrived at Duvenbeck’s HQ. The delivery marks the latest big step towards that company’s planned electrification. “The MAN eTruck is an important step towards emission-free logistics,” says Bernd Reining, Senior Director Procurement, Duvenbeck. “It helps us to meet our customers’ requirements and protect the environment at the same time. Sustainability is part of our everyday practice.” The requirements Duvenbeck is referring to include the MAN trucks’ 3 meter interior height – a first for a battery-elec...

Judge opens path for Elon Musk and Tesla to appeal $56B pay package

Image
By Simon Alvarez Posted on December 13, 2024 A Delaware judge has cleared the way for Elon Musk and Tesla to begin a legal appeal process for Musk’s 2018 pay package. The appeal process is a key step in the company’s attempt to try and reinstate the CEO’s $56 billion high-risk, high-reward compensation plan. Tesla has previously announced that it would be appealing Delaware Chancellor Kathaleen McCormick’s ruling, which overruled a vote from a majority of Tesla shareholders. Key updates:   Chancellor Kathaleen McCormick of the Court of Chancery recently issued an order that opens a 30-day window for an appeal to be filed with the Delaware Supreme Court, as noted in a Reuters report. With this, Elon Musk and Tesla’s board that approved the CEO’s 2018 compensation plan could appeal McCormick’s ruling in January.  Tesla also has the opportunity to appeal McCormick’s order that required Tesla to pay $345 million to the attorneys who represented ...

Hyundai XCIENT hydrogen fuel cell electric semi trucks arrive in Georgia

Image
Just when you thought it was safe to count out hydrogen as a viable competitor to battery-electric power in the North American medium – and heavy-duty trucking space, the new Hyundai XCIENT HFCEV Class 8 semi truck arrives in Georgia — and immediately gets to work. Hyundai’s new XCIENT hydrogen semi trucks are set to be deployed at the new Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA), where the heavy-duty Class 8 hydrogen fuel cell trucks will be tasked with supporting plant-related logistics operations. Operated as part of a joint venture with transport company/3PL Glovis America, Hyundai’s hydrogen semi fleet will consist of 21 XCIENT trucks, each packing electric motors that combine to deliver about 470 hp and 1650 lb-ft of torque at 0 rpm. Unlike the direct-drive/single-speed setup in Tesla cars and other inexpensive EVs, the Hyundai XCIENT puts all that power through an Allison 400 Series fully automatic six-speed transmission, enabling the electric motor to stay nearer its...

By Joey Klender Posted on December 12, 2024 Tesla bull ARK Invest offloaded over 51,000 shares of the electric automaker on Wednesday night after the company’s run on Wall Street continued. ARK sells Tesla shares to equal out the concentration of certain securities within its ETFs. The sale is not a statement that the company is ready to unload what it has to take a profit. The sale came out of ARK’s Innovation ETF, known as ARKK. On Wednesday night, it was one of two moves the firm made in the portfolio, along with the purchase of 348,733 shares of Tempus AI. ARK Invest’s Cathie Wood predicts Tesla’s fivefold growth in the next 5 years To be exact, ARK sold 51,335 shares of Tesla on Wednesday night, making up 0.3052 of the ETF. Based on the closing price from Wednesday, the sale was worth roughly $21,805,500. ARK is one of Tesla’s biggest bulls. Swedish union pissed off because Tesla is still thriving despite strike: “It’s bullsh*t”

Image
By Simon Alvarez Posted on December 10, 2024 Swedish union IF Metal and its allies’ strike against Tesla Sweden has already been going on for over a year. But despite the unions’ efforts to block Tesla’s operations, the electric vehicle maker is proving to be extremely resilient.  This has resulted in union officials getting very upset at Tesla Sweden’s stubbornness . After all, Tesla is not just getting around the unions’ blockades and strikes —the company seems to be heading towards a stellar year with the number of vehicles it will sell in Sweden this 2024, as noted in a CarUp report. The situation:   Since November 7 of last year, the Transport union’s sympathy strike has prohibited dock workers from loading or unloading Tesla cars at Trelleborg, Sweden’s southernmost port. However, Tesla has found a workaround, bringing cars in via ferry from Rostock, Germany, and occasionally Swinoujscie, Poland. Today, thousands of Tesla cars continue...
