Tesla begins testing Magic Dock-equipped Superchargers for non-Tesla EVs in U.S.
Tesla has evidently begun screening Superchargers outfitted with the ‘Magic Dock,’ as 1 has been noticed for the 1st time in the United States. There is even a signal up coming to the station that demonstrates how the automaker will initiate charging for non-Tesla cars.
For many months, Tesla has been operating to produce a new charging program for its present Supercharger Community that will let EVs not designed by the business to cost.
The 1st clues were being noticed in just the Tesla application, exhibiting what appears to be the ‘Magic Dock,’ which is what has been coined as the approach non-Tesla EVs will use to benefit from the Supercharger Community.
Now, the 1st Magic Dock-outfitted Supercharger was noticed by u/Fxsx24 on the r/TeslaMotors subreddit, and it even has a signal up coming to it advising non-Tesla customers to scan a QR code to cost non-Tesla cars:
Future to the Supercharger, the signal reads:
“Scan for guidance to cost a non-Tesla.”
It seems Tesla was even screening the Magic Dock with a Rivian R1T:
Apparently, although this may perhaps not be the 1st Magic Dock-outfitted Supercharger to be mounted, it is the 1st 1 noticed by the community, and it isn’t in California or Texas wherever quite a few would consider Tesla would roll out the 1st. As a substitute, it was noticed in Verone, New York, and is a V3 Supercharger with speeds of up to 250 kW.
Tesla hasn’t unveiled any precise strategy for how it would open up its Supercharger Community in the United States to other EVs. Even so, the business confirmed in mid-February that it would a lot more than double its fleet of Superchargers by 2024 and that “select Tesla Superchargers throughout the U.S. will quickly be open up to all EVs.”
Back in July 2022, the White Property mentioned that Tesla would be establishing “new Supercharger machines that will help non-Tesla EV motorists in North The united states to use Tesla Superchargers.” This was the 1st sign that Tesla was essentially preparing to open up up its Community in the around potential to other EVs.
